Former series (1978 – 2002) Diplomatic plates had on the left of the plate the letter D for diplomats, (or E for non-diplomatic embassy staff), and to the right a three digit serial number. Between the letter and serial and set at a lower level in smaller numerals was a three digit Embassy code (033 = unknown).
